Training Mushroom Farmers from Rwanda.

MTRC conducts training for groups and individuals from within East Africa and beyond who carry a passion of developing their expertise in the Mushroom area. A group of mushroom farmers from the neighboring country – Rwanda visited MTRC during their field visit study on mushroom cultivation practices. After the acquisition of first hand knowledge and skills, the group acquired the necessary requirements from MTRC including the Solar dryer and started a mushroom cultivation in Rwanda.

MTRC is open to Meetings and studies that promote mushroom cultivation in the region.

Officials from the President’s office, Ms Charlotte Kyoheirwe and Princess Pauline visited MTRC of a feasibility study. In the picture is Mr. Don Songbai of FAO-Chinese mushroom expert and Mr. James Akanyijuka from MTRC during the project tour of the Centre. This visit was instrumental in a cause to find out possible ways through which the mushroom growing activity can help the rural poor to increase their household incomes.

Mushroom Farmers Followup.

A group of Chinese experts from FAO visited the mushroom farmers in their respective homesteads with an objective to find out the challenges facing mushroom farmers and identify possible solutions to these bottlenecks. The pictures below were taken during the visit to farmers in Kacerere, Ikamiro and Maziba.  

Entrepreneurship class of Kigezi High school at MTRC

Kigezi High School is one of the longest existing schools in the region. The entrepreneurship class of at Kigezi High School attended a training on how to establish and develop mushroom cultivation as an enterprise. The students embraced and appreciated this practical knowledge as a skill they could ably apply even after their studies to generate income.

MTRC with FAO,NARO-KAZARD in research and development of spawn.

Ministry of Agriculture representatives lead by Dr Tumwine, and FAO Team by Mr wao, NARO-KAZARD Staff kabale and Peace Byandusya Director at MTRC at the initiation of the collaboration to start carrying out trials of different mushroom Species at MTRC. Mr lee. one of the Chinese experts from FAO trained the staff in specialised lab skills, different lab technologies and culture for spawn production MTRC.    

Research on Renewable Energy Technology at MTRC.

Mr Neil Bianchi from the UK Preparing & Demonstrating how to prepare charcoal from mushroom substrate waste in order to reduce on high costs on fire wood and charcoal which are expensive to the farmers and also carry a negative bearing on the environment. High School Students Field study at MTRC

MTRC hosted the class of A ‘level students from Creamland High School in Kabale offering Entrepreneurship studies on practical a study tour. The students attended a lecture by the MTRC lead trainer in developing entrepreneurial abilities on group and individual basis, life skills, mushroom cultivation and marketing techniques.       

Entrepreneurship Lectures at MTRC

MTRC has become a common destination for entrepreneurship students from multiple schools within the region. A group of A. Level students from Bukinda Senior Secondary School offering Entrepreneurship within their subject combination visited MTRC for an entrepreneurship lecture! The practical training that these youth acquire at MTRC is not limited to mushroom cultivation alone but multiple other disciplines too. Kibale Farmers Study tour at MTRC!

Mr. Andrew Byamugisha led a group of farmers from Kibale district in partnership with Kabale District Local Government. They were sponsored by NAADS of Kibale District Local Government. The team was directed by Mr Edison Hilman the District Agriculture officer Kabale. Majority of the famers were councilors at the District and Sub county level alongside other relevant community leaders from Kibale District.
