Students of Iganga Girls School have attained skills in the practical cultivation of Oyster mushrooms.
This training by MTRC took place in conjunction with AVSI/SKY which has done a remarkable job in promoting Agribusiness in institutions of learning around the country. This exposes students especially those that are involved in agriculture clubs at school to acquire hands on skills by practicing Agriculture at school.
Resultantly they carry home the farming skill acquired especially in vacation and long holidays.
The primary goal of is to enhance job creation in Agribusiness through mushroom production and processing. The training Goal suits well with the Mission of the School i.e. “To equip the individual with Knowledge and skills for Self-reliance. Mushroom cultivation has great potential for supporting the youth more especially since it requires very minimal space for production.
